Thanks for your thoughts on my book list. ...Kate -
Thanks for your thoughts on my book list. I've added a few since I posted it and haven't finished some of the ones on the list. I will look for the two books you recommended.

Art therapy - hmmm - I'm pretty bad at stick figures. Although I do like to doodle. So if I get stuck, perhaps that will help.

Have you heard of Dear Stupid? I read about it recently and ordered a copy - mainly because it was a lot about inner child.

Thanks again and take care.onelongjourneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07597384019046282972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4827918606832091151.post-80647102063332205562009-07-31T12:00:46.926-07:002009-07-31T12:00:46.926-07:00Hi,
One book that I think you will find very help...Hi,

One book that I think you will find very helpful and healing is "Healing the Child Within: Discovery and Recovery for Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families" by Charles L. Whitfield. I liked this one so much and hve read it several times. I think that my favorite thing about the book is that it covers so many different approaches. I really valued that a lot. There is also a workbook for this as well called "A Gift to Myself: A Personal Workbook and Guide to Healing the Child Within." I haven't done the workbook yet.

One other one that I thought was good was "Secret Survivors" by Sue E. Blume for a general topic book on adult healing from child sexual abuse.

I have read and found the books you have read very helpful and healing as well, expect I have not read the Ainscott book.

Another great way to access inner child work can be through art therapy, not sure if you have seen any books on that yet. One that I would recommend is "Recovery of Your Inner Child" by Lucia Capacchione. Another good art therapy book is "Managing Traumatic Stress through Art: Drawing from the Center" by Barry Cohen.

I would also recommend doing self-care and comfort for yourself. They have helped me a lot in healing.

Good and healling thoughts to you.

KateAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
